Ok ladies, whether we like it or not, it is safe to say that winter in New England has officially arrived! Although I am not looking forward to high mounds of snow in my backyard and scraping ice off my car in the wee hours of the AM, the cold weather does give me an excuse to break out one of my go-to pieces this time of the year - faux fur! I heavily rely on my faux fur vests, jackets and all other faux fur accessories to keep me warm and fashionable during our cold winter months. Over the years I have collected many faux fur pieces that I continue to wear year after year. The great thing about this trend is that it never goes out of style! Each year designers tweak their pieces and reinvent their designs, however the foundation of the look remains constant and is one that can last a lifetime in your closet! My weakness in this category is definitely the faux fur vest. At this point it is safe to say I have stocked up at least 5 different variations of this trend in my very own wardrobe. Each year I love to buy a new color, a new texture or "fur" to add to my collection. The vest is such a versatile piece that you can mix and match with so many different looks to create a seemingly new outfit each time you wear it! If I am headed to work, I will choose one of my more "tame" vests to throw over my sweater or cotton button-up. On the weekends, I go for a more laid back look and throw the vest over my sweater or hoodie and jeans! Going out?? One of my fave ways to wear my faux fur vest is over one of my dazzling tanks paired with skinny black leather leggings for an edgy twist! You can pretty much find faux fur in any store you step into nowadays from Forver21 to Nordstroms! Today I want to highlight one designer, who I happen to LOVE, who has created fresh takes on this lovely look.
Rachel Zoe's Luxe brand is affordable and currently available on QVC. Crazy right?!? I love Rachel and all her crazy antics and lingo on her Bravo show, so I was ecstatic when I found out that she designed a collection for QVC. We all know that her designer looks are BANANAS, however her budget friendly line also has chic styles that emulate Rachel's signature style and her stellar fashion sense! Rachel loves faux fur and her collection for QVC emphasizes this fact! Here are a few choices that I have hand picked for all you RZ fans! (All from the Rachel Zoe Luxe collection at QVC ) Top to bottom - Toggle Coat, $130; White Coat with Belt, $139.74; Shearling Vest, $134.50; Striped Vest, $81.84.
Ok so if I had my way with each of these pieces - here is what I would do! The top coat is such a beautiful bold color, perfect for your evening looks over a sexy LBD. This would be killer over your NYE cocktail dress or how about over your black one-piece jumpsuit to take the look from sexy summer night to winter luxe! The white collarless coat is so plush! Winter white is one of my faves and this would be ideal for that Vermont ski vacation or any other winter wonderland adventures you have planned this season. Of course, if I had to choose just one piece, I would go with the shearling belted vest. Besides my obvious obsession with vests (as described above) this piece is trendy, multi-functional and incorporates two different fabrics to make it stand out from the crowd! This vest is hot over black pants, maxi skirts, jeggings, leggings and all of the above! Wear a tight black turtleneck underneath to accent the look and keep you warm! Last but not least, the striped vest is the most affordable faux fur piece I have chosen! This look is casual and can be worn with jeans and Uggs or throw it over a comfy sweater and leggings to keep your outfit comfortable yet polished at the same time!
Ok loves, go get em! Stay Fly ladies!!

Recycling Summer Fashion
Written by Guest Blogger: Suzanne Townsend
Cultivating an appropriate seasonal wardrobe is a labor of love for me. It usually begins a month or two before the season in question, and through visits to clearance racks, consignment stores, and the occasional high-end department store, I am able to assemble a storehouse of items that will get me through fall, winter, spring, or summer. Ultimately throughout the season, I pick up additional items and, due to their late inclusion into my wardrobe, they are unfairly cast aside before I’m ready to move on. I’d like to think that they aren’t ready to move on either. Here are my tips for helping you and your summer wardrobe go the distance well into fall.
Show me what you’re made of – Part of determining whether or not your summer clothes will translate well into fall fashion pieces is thinking about their weight and the fabric they are made of. Heavier cottons and linens can easily be paired with wool trousers to create a cohesive cool weather look, while lightweight chiffon might need to hide out in your closet until spring.
I think I met you last season – The thing about colors is that there are only so many in the color spectrum and the thing about fashion is that trends are always changing. This means that colors once strictly forbidden from being worn at Thanksgiving dinner can now be displayed proudly during even the most awkward of family dinners. Be a fashion trend prowler, reading up on what fashion forecasters are predicting for the coming seasons so that when you’re shopping for winter you already have spring in mind. With this fall’s trend of color blocking bold saturated hues of blues, reds, and yellows you probably have more fall appropriate clothing in your summer wardrobe than you might think.
Summer footwear – No matter how much your heart sings a love song to summer, if you wear your gladiator sandals in winter your toes will be singing a sad ballad of frostbite. However, mixing fall footwear with summer clothing is one of the best ways to bring your fashion into the next season. Rather than pairing your cream tunic dress with a pair of red flats, wear it with a pair of textured tights and brown knee high boots. Then stomp all over the fashion law that says it is not permissible to wear white after Labor Day.
Get under it and then get over it – Keep layering in mind when you’re looking to breathe new life into summer items. If you have a bold patterned sun dress you love, put a lace trimmed camisole and buttoned up cardigan over the top. By pairing this ensemble with a pair of grey sweater tights and ankle boots, you’ve successfully turned a summer dress into a fall work-appropriate skirt. Or, get under your summer fashions by wearing a pair of leggings under this summer’s trend of high-waisted denim shorts.
Last week I wore an empire waist dark orange dress over a white v-neck ¾ sleeve shirt, dark skinny jeans and a pair of black flats. My co-workers marveled and did a double take, asking me to explain to them how I took a summer dress and made it fall appropriate. Even if you don’t feel the need to recycle your summer fashions, let your friends, family and co-workers know it’s okay to do so. You might have thought this was a matter of fashion, but by keeping these tips in mind, you could save the world – one summer dress at a time.

All That Glimmers is Glam
As we approach the holiday season, it is time to start thinking about what stylish pieces you will be wearing to all your upcoming events! Whether it is an office affair, cocktail party or family gathering, one of my must-have looks this time of the year are fashion finds with a lil sparkle! Sequins, jewels and much more bling adorn all types of fashion during the holidays and I can't think of one reason why you shouldn't join in on this glamorous trend. The key to pulling off this look is to choose only one piece of your outfit that dazzles! Thinking of shining in a great dress all night long? If so, accessorize it with a pair of opaque tights in a color that contrasts against your pretty party frock. Going for that glitzy sweater or tunic? I love this look with faux leather leggings or a pencil faux leather skirt! The rocker chic leather looks hot opposite such a girly top! Additional options include sequined tanks under suede blazers with jeans or shimmering skirts matched with cotton sweaters for an unexpected casual twist! There are so many retailers offering these flashy styles this season it is hard to choose what options to purchase. Nevertheless, here are some festive looks that I have my eye on!
I would totally blow my budget on this beautiful Shoshanna Metallic Strapless Dress for $385!
Express has tons of budget-friendly picks for you to choose from. Right now all dresses are an additional 30% off! Hurry in for yours today! I am loving this deep v-neck no fuss dress for only $89.60. It comes in your choice of three beautiful warm winter colors!
I am obsessed with everything pleated this year! Here is another simple yet chic one shoulder dress that will be sure to shine! Only $68.60, also at Express.
This tiered mini skirt is super cute and looks great paired with a cozy cotton or fur sweater. Staying in budget for only $79.90 at Express.
Piperlime continues to be my go-to site for everything savvy and chic! The Fedex driver is at my house almost weekly with that white and green packaged box that contains the next perfect piece to add to my ever-growing collection! It is like Christmas every week at my house...hehe. Ok, but on a serious note - here they go again totally knocking it out of the park with this Tulle sequin jacket for $99!!! Rarrrrrrrr.
TopShop is a great site that delivers products to over 100 countries all over the world! Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson and Lauren Conrad, among other celebs, are frequent buyers who shop this site to find affordable and trendy clothing to sport all around town! Here are a few tops that can give you that glam edge this holiday.
This beautiful burgundy tank can be paired with your fave blazer or cardi for a quick party ready look. It won't break the bank at only $66.
Another Glam Rockette piece from TopShop (a line strictly dedicated to sequins, glitter and everything sparkly) is this Shimmer Kimono for $80. Throw this over a white tank, paired with your favorite pair of distressed denim and hit the streets struttin!
I hope to see some of these styles on all those fashionistas over the next two months! You can betcha I will be joining in on all the glittery glam as I start to put together my holiday looks! Tis the season!!

Bridal Market
One of the most anticipated days in a woman's life is undoubtedly her wedding day! I was definitely one of those brides who loved every minute of my special day. Not only do you get to look forward to marrying the love of your life but you are surrounded by friends, family and loved ones who are so happy to share in your joy. All who know me, understand I love my hubs to the fullest. Together for 13 years, I can't picture my life without him and he made that day so magical for me. BUT - let's get real for a minute ladies! One of the most important moments of that day for any fashionista is getting to wear your most glamorous outfit of all time - the wedding dress! This is the one day where you are a "celebrity" in your own right. All eyes, cameras and thoughts are on you! I absolutely adore bridal fashion and try to keep up with all the trends even now, two years after my big day! This week bridal designers around the world embarked on their very own fashion week where gowns for the 2012 season were debuted! Although my own dress was rather simple, I must say, if I got a chance to do it over again, I would definitely rock a bigger, flashier dress! Bridal trends this season are featuring full skirts draped in details such as rosettes, feathers, and lacy layers! Form fitting gowns are still all the rage! In addition, designers are finding ways to blend traditional silhouettes with modern details to create a look that is timeless yet contemporary at the same time. This was exhibited first hand when I saw my lil sister in her wedding gown! Her big day is only three weeks away and she will of course look stunning to say the least! Now, I can't give away her dress details just yet - but let's just say - the groom will NOT be disappointed. Back to the fashions. Ok, so if I had the chance to walk down the aisle one more time, here are some of the looks I would totally be considering for this unparalleled moment in fashion history!
Two of the most MAJOR (yes I watch and adore RZ and her terminology) wedding dress designers out there are of course, Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier! For all my designer crazed brides, here are a few to-die-for gowns that any girl would be lucky to wear on her big day!
Here are two stunners from Monique Lhuillier.
Vera Wang's 2012 collection was unlike any other this year! Most of her gowns were in black or nude! Crazy right?? So, for those brides who think outside of the box and want to rock a totally non-conventional style on their big day, here are some of my faves from her Fall 2012 collection.
Ok, let's get back to some pearly whites shall we?? I love the designer Modern Trousseau, whose stunning collection is created right here in CT! Check out this super cute mini and trumpet lace gown from her most recent designs!
This Rivini is a showstopper for sure!
This Douglas Hannant dress is beyond cool! You DEF have to be a confident, fashion forward bride to pull this look off! I just thought it was so amazing that I had to feature it on my post.
Last but not least, here is a gown from Augusta Jones, the same designer of my wedding gown! Her dresses are chic, affordable and classic with just a touch of trend!

Ohhhh how I miss shopping for wedding dresses!! To all you brides out there searching for your perfect dress, I hope some of these options have brought you some inspiration as you embark on this special time in your life. The best advice I can give is to keep an open mind! Even if you are not sure if something may look good on you - try it on! Also, listen to your bridal consultant! They are experts and usually know which dresses might not look so good on the rack but end up looking DYNAMITE on your body! And last but not least, have fun! Enjoy the experience, bring your loved ones and trust me, when they say you will know its "the one" when you try it on - it is DEF true! You will know...the moment will happen....and it will be unforgettable!! Best of luck to all those zillas out there, especially my sister who will be a picture perfect bride come November 5th!
I leave you all with a final pic from my very own special day!

Runway Report
I'm back!!!! Needless to say I am bursting at the seams with excitement over my recent trip to NYC Fashion Week 2012! I was so lucky to have third row seats at the Nanette Lepore 2012 Resort Collection Runway show! From the minute I left the cab and stepped foot in front of Lincoln Center all I can think was - here it is Rachele - the Mothership!! What I would give to be a part of that world! I am so grateful that I was able to experience it, even if it was just for one day! So, where do I begin? First, the fashion on the streets and inside Lincoln Center was fierce! All my fellow fashionistas were dressed to the nines. There really is no other place on earth where you can see such unique fashion and personal style other than the BIG APPLE! Whether you were in the business or just there as a fashion obsessed fan (like myself of course), it was obvious that everyone was there for the same reason - FASHION PASSION! Fashion week was definitely an experience I will never forget. From the photographers lined up as you walk in, to the larger than life models on the runway, and lets not forget the famous faces popping up all over the place, the thrill in the air was palpable. Once I found out fashion week was a go, the first thought that raced through my mind was OMG, what am I going to wear??? Now, I love fashion just as much as those NYC fashionista streetwalkers, but let me tell you - going to the city made me realize one thing - I need to step up my game!!! LOL. Ok Ok, back to the issue at hand. So - the outfit......Well of course I wanted to wear designer but a girl like lil ol' me can only shop so much before the hubs whips out the pink slip! Therefore, I did what any other girl in my situation would do - I faked it till I maked it!!! Rent the Runway was my only salvation at this point! I frantically scoured the website for that perfectly chic dress that would hopefully scream "I belong here people". Colorblocking is such a huge trend this season, I decided to go with a great BCBGMaxazria concoction! Turns out - I made the right decision because the dress was a huge success! Photographers and fellow bloggers could not get enough of our colorblocked creations. We even made the cut and were featured on Nordstroms and Marie Claire's official blogs! Ahhh - my first official debut on two of my favorite websites! The love did not stop there my friends! As we walked inside to check out all the fun happenings before the show started, so many people stopped us in our tracks to compliment our looks! There really is no better gratification than receiving such kind words from those who live and breathe fashion on a daily basis! After that - it was time to get down to business. Sis and I went straight to the line to ensure we did not miss a second of the show! Once inside, the runway glistened, the cameras were flashing and the energy was unreal! As the show started, I was still in shock that here I was, the CPA from CT, sitting right across from Stanley Tucci and Kelly Rutherford, watching Nanette Lepore showcase her colorful 2012 collection. For sure, a moment I will never forget! As the show came to an end and the crowd piled out, all I can think was - NOOOOO, I don't want to leave! Nonetheless, all good things must come to an end, and I walked out with the rest of the fashion femmes! Hey, one thing is for sure, at least I was in good company!
So, now that I have poured out my fashion crazed emotions onto this post, it is time to switch gears and talk about the Nanette Collection and share photos from my amazing day!! The collection was full of bright, electric colors from pink and blues, to yellow and green! High colorful wedges and flat sandals graced the models feet as they walked so perfectly poised down the runway. Nanette was definitely not afraid to mix and match all her bright pieces. She tastefully paired bright blue with shocking pink hues and showcased neon yellow tones with bright orange accents! If you are looking to get noticed on your next resort getaway, this collection is great inspiration for some high-fashion looks! Ok everyone, here are some of my favorite styles, personal photos and famous snapshots from the highlight of my fake fashion career! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Fall Preview Picks
I am very sad to say that this weekend marks the unofficial end of the summer season! With Labor Day weekend upon us, I am definitely looking forward to some fun BBQ's, beach days, wearing head to toe white, and everything else that makes summer so sweet! Not only is this a big party weekend, but it also a HUGE weekend to catch some great Fall Preview Sales at all your favorite stores! Fall is such a beautiful time of year here in New England! The leaves start to turn, the air gets a bit crisp and the orchards are ripe for the picking! My favorite part of this time of year was, of course, the back to school shopping sprees my mom used to take my sister and I on every year! Whether we were hitting the streets of Soho in NYC or shopping at our favorite local malls, it was something I always looked forward to as a kid! Not much has changed since then! Even though I am no longer in school, I LOVE getting ready for the new fashion season by reading up on all the new trends and styles that are coming our way! Since my studying days are officially over, my reading materials nowadays have included People StyleWatch, Lucky, Glamour, Vogue, you name it - I read it! Not only do I check out the styles in all the MAGS, I also tune in to all my favorite style shows on TV for inspiration! With that said, here are some of my MUST HAVE items for this fall! If you hurry, you can catch these styles on sale this weekend at all of the stores featured here today!
The number one must have trend this fall is definitely, one of my favorites, the bootie! I have already scooped up one pair during the Nordstrom's Anniversary sale, however, you can bet that is not the last pair I will be buying this season! The latest addition to this sexy style for Fall 2011 is creating a mens-wear inspired bootie that features laces and/or oxford-like details. The peep-toe version is also a hot item for this fall! I plan to wear my booties with so many outfits! You can wear them at night with skinny jeans, at work with your favorite trousers or on the weekend with a cute skirt or leather shorts and tights! LC is all over this trend with her shoe line now featured at Kohls. Check out these peep-toe booties for only $69.99.

There are so many great styles of booties at every store, I am positive that all my Style Strutters will find their perfect pair! Other recommended stores to find this trend include Nordstroms, Piperlime, Zappos, Nine West and DSW!
Next on my shopping list is anything animal print! From flats, to jackets and blouses, even jeggings, animal-print is everywhere this season! If you want to ease into this trend, start with a subtle print on your accessories, such as your shoe, purse, belt or blouse under a solid colored blazer. For those who love this trend and want to go BOLD, look for jumpsuits, jeggings, and faux fur coats that can be your statement piece this fall. Here are a variety of my most-wanted looks for you to choose from. (From top to bottom: Leopard Blouse $49.90, Express; Spotted Legging $7.80, Forever21; Leopard Belt $34.95, Gap; Faux Fur Leopard Jacket $79, Piperlime; Snakeskin Clutch $78, Piperlime )

Looking to splurge on a bootie that will get you noticed? I am officially obsessed with these Sam Edelman studded booties sold at Lord & Taylor. They are a bit more pricey at $225 but if you stop in this weekend with your coupons, you can receive up to 20% off!
Knock em' dead in these beautiful grape suede booties by INC currently sold at Macy's for $98. Use your Labor Day coupons to get $$ off all weekend long! There are so many great styles of booties at every store, I am positive that all my Style Strutters will find their perfect pair! Leather jackets are also a style staple for my wardrobe come this time of year. Whether real or fake, this piece can be worn over tanks, and with dresses all season. Mix flirty floral prints with this edgier look and you will have everyone wanting your style secrets this fall! I also love the different colors that are being offered this season. Purchase a piece in camel, red or natural leather for a more daring look. If you want to keep it looking classic and cool, black is the way to go! I love this quilted (minus the) leather jacket offered at Express. This comes in a variety of colors and won't break the bank at only $118.00!
Another amazing high-end designer has joined the team at Macy's and is now offering a fashion forward line that everyday style mavens can enjoy! Karl Lagerfeld (ahhhhhh) is now creating amazing pieces for Impulse at Macy's. If you are an avid follower of my blog, you recall my past post Label Lust which featured designers Rachel Roy and others who are available at Macy's. Now, we can add Karl to that list! Of course he is right on trend with these edgy faux-leather shorts and pants that I am loving right now. Pair them with a bright colored top or sweater (chartreuse perhaps - I saw a perfect one at Gap) and booties and take the town looking like the hottest bitch around! Shorts are $79 and pants are $99! Such a deal to have a one-of-a-kind piece!
That is it for now! Stay tuned for more fall trends coming your way this season! Be sure to hit all your favorite stores this weekend and stock up on the essentials! I look forward to seeing all the fall fashions hit the streets this month! Next stop for me - FASHION SHOW in NYC!!! You can be sure my next post will have tons of tips and hot styles straight from the runway!!! Can't wait!

Wardrobe Remix
Well - what a busy month! Between work and summer social events, I am sorry to say that I have neglected my fashion blogging beauties out there! My apologies ladies! Hopefully you all will forgive me and feast your eyes on this very important blog. Today's post highlights how to mix and match pieces in your own closet to create different looks that can last the rest of the summer and straight into fall. In order to accomplish this, first we need to make sure you have the basics. Below is a list of items that are style staples that every girl should have at her disposal. Each of these pieces are versatile, timeless and can take you from summer to fall in a snap! With that said, here are what I think are the key pieces to covet right now....
1. White Dress
2. Jean Jacket/Jean Vest
3. Shorts
4. Colorful tank
5. Flare Jeans
6. Skirt (mini or maxi)
7. Blazer (or two)
8. Tunic
So....where do I begin? There are so many different looks you can create with just these 8 pieces! First thing first, lets talk about where you can buy some of these hot items. Flare jeans have definitely made a come back this year, whether you are into the trend or not, they are everywhere! This 70's inspired look works best with high wedge or stacked heels. This combination really enhances that "leg lengthening look" that these jeans bring all on their own. Celebrities everywhere have been caught strutting their flared styles all over town. From Jessica Simpson and Eva Mendes, to AnnaLynne McCord, no matter what age or body type, flared jeans are of the moment! Now, if you want to invest in a more expensive pair to get you through all the seasons, I recommend 7 For All Mankind or J Brand. Both these designers are offered at Piperlime. For a more budget friendly pair, check out these blue-washed pair from GAP for only $69.95!
You can pair these jeans with all of the above mentioned top choices. For a hot summer night, grab your favorite flowy tank to compliment this look. Tanks with a longer back hemline are everywhere and would be the perfect match for a trendy night out! Getting ready for fall? Grab your favorite lightweight tunic from your closet and hit the pavement ready to tackle your day looking oh so FAB! Casual Friday at work? Grab a simple white tank, tuck it into your jeans and throw on a blazer to capture that chic, professional vibe. I adore this striped blazer from Piperlime for $99. Grab it now and wear it right into the fall!
This blazer (or any other one for that matter) can also be worn over that cute white summer dress! I would pick up a knee-length white dress and use this piece to mix and match all summer long! Pair it with a cool jean vest or jean jacket. Add a brown leather belt around your waist or colorful beaded necklace such as turquoise or coral to really make your outfit pop! In all style scenarios, the dress is simply the backdrop that highlights your other accessories that are truly the shining STAR of the outfit. Check out how Pippa Middleton rocks the white dress/jean jacket look. So regal, yet young and hip at the same time!
STRUT it girrlllll......
The jean jacket/vest is also such a versatile wardrobe piece that has been a staple in my wardrobe for years! Add this to top off your perfect shorts and tank/tunic look. Try a shrunken jean jacket (just like Pippa) over a maxi skirt! You can either wear a tucked in form fitting tank underneath or a longer version that comes right to your waistline where the skirt begins. Mixing the different lengths of the shorter jacket with the longer skirt add depth and dimension to your look. Feeling bold? Add some sky-high sandals or peep toe wedges for a rocker worthy look.
Your shorts and blazer can also take you straight into Fall! Add some tights under your shorts and pair it with some booties! Add your blazer for those crisp nights out on the town! I also LOVE how a blazer looks with skirts. Wear a mini and add either an open blazer or belted version to update your look. Check out how Jayma Mays makes it happen!
I can go on and on for days my friends! It truly is amazing how, with the right pieces, you can create so many great looks without breaking the bank and buying everything in the store! Now - only if I can try and take my own advice, then maybe my shopping addiction wouldn't be so bad!!! Here's to dreaming right??? hehehe :)
Have fun mixing it up girls! And remember, there are no rules in fashion - be bold, be beautiful, be YOU!!
